SmartSwing Hits It Down the Middle with Intelligent Golf Club In Industry First
Austin Technology Company Implants Hardware in a Driver that Provides Immediate and Elaborate Feedback

Austin, Texas, August 27, 2004

SmartSwing, Inc., an Austin-based golf technology company, announced today the introduction of an intelligent golf club which will enable millions of golfers to improve their game and more thoroughly enjoy their experience on the golf course.

Unlike other golf learning systems on the market, the SmartSwing driver — other clubs are to follow — incorporates hardware in the shaft of the golf club. This allows the golfer to get immediate and elaborate feedback on the quality of their golf swing and other mechanics. The feedback occurs on the golf course or the golf range and can be transferred to a computer via a wireless link.

"The software allows you to download your swing, analyze it from every angle and then compare it to your ideal reference swing on the computer," said Dick Eyestone, SmartSwing's chief executive officer. "This is the first driver ever developed with this technology integrated into the shaft."

Initially, the club will be available through teaching professionals in select markets around the country as well as direct to the consumer at SmartSwing's web site. Clubs can be purchased for $649 to $799, depending on the software functionality (Visualizer and Analyzer) the golfer is interested in. Many in the golf industry believe the product is both unique and will be well-received by the marketplace.
