SmartSwing Golf Names Technical Advisory Board

Austin, Texas, June 2, 2005
SmartSwing, the intelligent golf club company, announced today the formation of a Technical Advisory Board, which will help guide the company's technology direction.

"The combined brainpower of this group of people is absolutely awesome." said Dick Eyestone, CEO and founder of SmartSwing. "We have carefully selected these board members to help the SmartSwing product line and technology platform realize its full potential."

The board members include Vadim Gerasimov, Ray Penner of Malaspina University, Mike Perlmutter of Northrop Grumman and Chris Verplaetse of MOTO Development Group.

Vadim Gerasimov has a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has been extensively published in the areas of extremity computing, biofeedback, and sensor networks.

Raymond Penner currently teaches in the Department of Physics and Engineering at Malaspina University-College in British Columbia, Canada. With a Masters Degree in Physics (University of Manitoba), Penner has been studying that discipline's relation to the game of golf for more than a decade. Penner has written several articles on the Physics of Golf.

Mike Perlmutter is currently employed at Northrop Grumman in the Navigation Systems Division as Director of Strategy and Planning. Perlmutter, who earned three degrees in electrical engineering at MIT, has been very active in the area of inertial sensors and navigation technology. Perlmutter was an early pioneer in the field of intelligent clubs.

Chris Verplaetse is currently a senior engineer at MOTO Development Group in San Francisco and an independent product designer focusing on embedded inertial systems. He has consulted and designed motion-sensing products for BMW, Panavision, and Analog Devices, among others; and he co-founded and was VP of Product Development for Caveo Technology. Chris has six patents in the areas of motion sensing, pattern recognition, and tracking, and he authored among the first articles describing the uses of inertial sensing for everyday objects. Chris has a Masters degree from the MIT Media Laboratory. As an artist, he has designed several public interactive installations making use of embedded motion sensors.

As part of the arrangement, board members will meet with SmartSwing's general management and engineering staff twice annually to review the status of the company's product development efforts and provide input and consulting to the engineering staff concerning key issues, problems and concerns.

About SmartSwing

SmartSwing is an Austin (TX)-based technology company that has developed a revolutionary golf learning system. Its new line of intelligent golf clubs contain patent pending technology, which for the first time allows a golfer to visualize and analyze their swing. During normal play or practice, SmartSwing clubs record all relevant swing data for future analysis. Using SmartSwing software in conjunction with our LS100 or LS300 series clubs, golfers have the unique capability to view their swing in a relative sense by superimposing it upon a known good or 'reference' swing. Sophisticated analytics allow for a detailed diagnosis of swing problems and learning progression from swinging on plane, to distance, to consistency. The result — accelerated learning and greater enjoyment of the game.
